Chavurah

The word chavurah comes from the word haver, meaning friend. A chavurah is a small group of individuals who gather together for a variety of reasons: to socialize, celebrate Jewish holidays, learn more about Judaism, and participate in social action projects. Three years ago, MTLJ started its very own chavurah, L’Shacharit Neshama, which meets periodically on Saturday mornings. Its focus is to hold a Shacharit service and study Torah. The group enjoys a delicious Kiddush lunch and community fellowship afterwards.

Benefits of Havarot participation:

  • Your Chavurah becomes your extended  Shabbat family
  • Chavurote create secure and constant ties to the wider Jewish community
  • Chavurote help Judaism remain a constant source of joy
