The Monroe Temple of Liberal Judaism

The word havurah comes from the word haver, meaning friend. A havurah is a small group of individuals who gather together for a variety of reasons: to socialize, celebrate Jewish holidays, learn more about Judaism, and participate in social action projects. Three years ago, MTLJ started its very own havurah, L’Shacharit Neshama, which meets periodically on Saturday mornings. Its focus is to hold a Shacharit service and study Torah. The group enjoys a delicious Kiddush lunch and community fellowship afterwards.

Benefits of Havarot participation:

  • Your Havurah becomes your extended  Shabbat family
  • Havurot create secure and constant ties to the wider Jewish community
  • Havurot help Judaism remain a constant source of joy
