I see that Monroe Temple Beth-El also goes by the acronym MTLJ. What does that stand for?

How often do you have services?

We have services on Friday Night (Erev Shabbat) and Saturday morning (Shabbat)

How many Clergy does MTLJ have?

We have one Rabbi, Garry Loeb, and one Cantor, Elizabeth Goldmann.

How many members does MTLJ have?

We have about 300 member families.

What kind of school facilities does MTLJ have?

MTLJ has a preschool, a Torah school serving grades K-7, and a Jewish High School Academy.

Who are the school directors?

The Director of the Mentch Makers Preschool is Carol Berman. The Torah School Principal is Jason Greenberg.

What auxiliary organizations does MTLJ have?

MTLJ has a very active Sisterhood affiliated with the Women of Reform Judaism, as well as an active Brotherhood, called the Mens Action Club. It also has a Youth Group, called BETY (Beth-El Temple Youth), affiliated with NFTY, National Federation of temple Youth).

What do I get for my membership dues?

Our members find they get back much more than they pay for. Wonderful educational programs for your children and for yourselves. Meaningful friendships and connections through our sisterhood and brotherhood. Clergy and a community that will be there to support you through life’s challenges and joys. .Access to summer camps for your children. The list just goes on and on and on….

How do I join MTLJ?

Call our Office Manager, Elba, (845) 783-2626 and she’ll guide you through the process. We currently have a Mitzvah of Connection Program, where you may be entitled to free membership for the first (2015-2016) year.

What if I can’t afford membership dues?

We have dues reductions available for anyone who needs it. Contact Ellen at elglonew@gmail.com for more information. No one will be turned away due to their inability to pay.
