COME LEARN WITH US!!
As a “congregation of learners,” we encourage opportunities for Jewish development at every age and skill level. To develop literate and knowledgeable Jews, our adult education committee plans a comprehensive array of courses on all aspects of Judaism, geared for both the “beginner”, those who have just started to become immersed in, and those who are are well along on their path of study. Our aim is to make everyone feel comfortable learning– in a non-pressured, friendly and nurturing environment.
Topics of learning are varied and in the past have included reading Hebrew, conversational Hebrew, Torah and Talmud study, Torah cantillation (trope), preparation for adult B’nai Mitzvah, Jewish cooking, Jewish culture, Jewish history, Hebrew poetry, and Israel. We sponsor film festivals, reading circles, poetry readings, meditation sessions, Scholar-In-Residence weekends and trips to Jewish museums and Yiddish theater. Our adult program won an honorable mention at the 2005 Union for Reform Judaism Biennial in Houston, Texas. There is usually no cost to Temple members for courses, except for any text which may be involved. Call the Temple office for cost for non-members. Won’t you join us?
